Returning for July 2023 after 4 months!
The pitcher body of this cross is particularly attractive, with most of the plants we have seen so far having a roughly 50/50 patchwork of maroon on a yellow-green background. The correct scientific name is Nepenthes hamata x (talangensis x maxima) and it’s the reverse cross to BE-4050, which has a somewhat different appearance. The clones we have seen so far mostly have lovely two-tone yellow/orange peristomes when juvenile, that darken to near black as they mature. Everything about this cross works extremely well.
History: First introduced in July 2017.
Origin: Horticultural, bred by Borneo Exotics from specimen parent plants. The female parent is a selected clone of N. talangensis x maxima with the cultivar name ‘Lady Pauline’ formerly sold under BE-3298. It was first launched at the Chelsea Flower Show and there are many photos of ‘Lady Pauline’ available on the web. The male parent is a selected clone of the Gng. Tambusisi form of N. hamata, with Collection ID# 0973.
Source: Random assortment from a huge number of different clones out of microprop.
Photo notes: Photos are of representative clones and may not be identical to plants shipped.
